Description

The original parish church was on this site, close to the Arkle Beck in Arkengarthdale. By the late 18th century the riverbank had become so eroded and the church in such a state of disrepair that it had to be abandoned. There is now no sign of the church. Only about a dozen 18th century gravestones remain. A new church was built in 1816 further up the Dale.
