Baxter’s Fold, Cracoe MYD6420 (c) YDNPA, 2023

This house and barn were built in a single phase in the late 17th century. Alterations began within a hundred years of completion when the original windows, with chamfered mullions and surrounds, were replaced by more fashionable flat-faced examples. The changes did not include the original doorway: this remains in primary condition to this day. When, early on in the 19th century, the house was subdivided, to form two cottages, a second doorway was needed: it was squeezed in between one of the windows and the first barn door.
