This house and barn were built in a single phase in the late 17th century. Alterations began within a hundred years of completion when the original windows, with chamfered mullions and surrounds, were replaced by more fashionable flat-faced examples. The changes did not include the original doorway: this remains in primary condition to this day. When, early on in the 19th century, the house was subdivided, to form two cottages, a second doorway was needed: it was squeezed in between one of the windows and the first barn door.

From Skipton on B6265, site lies on left hand side of road in centre of Cracoe opposite the Devonshire Arms pub. No public access. View from roadside.
