A milk churn stand has been built using several rectangular stone weights originally from farmyard cheese presses. It lies on the roadside on Low Gate and would once have supported metal churns full of milk, ready for collection by the local milk lorry on its daily round. This milk may well have gone to cheese factories in Hawes or onto the train at Hawes Station.

Location
