Alexander Calvert Memorial MYD36667 (c) YDNPA, 2023

A fine, marble wall memorial was erected for Alexander Calvert after his death in 1854 in St Mary the Virgin’s Church, Muker. It is located on the south wall of the nave. He worked for 50 years as a land agent and land valuer in the Richmond area. With this experience it is no surprise that he was also employed as a commissioner under the “inclosure acts”. The memorial has a pile of books and two rolls of maps carved on it to further underline his profession.
