Coleby Hall is one of the finest houses in Wensleydale and has a commanding position above the Askrigg road to Bainbridge. It is roughcast, rubble built and E-shaped in plan. The central part is two-storey and the three wing extensions are three-storied. A datestone inscribed ‘IC 1655’ records its builder John Colby.
