Crowther’s Apothecary, Grassington MYD36630 (c) YDNPA, 2023

In the late 19th century this was a chemist’s shop run by John Crowther, famous as a local antiquarian. The adjoining shop was where he bottled fizzy drinks and perfume. Previously the building was a butcher’s shop, a miner’s cottage, and before that, stables.

Location

Now a tea shop (2023) on the Main Street in Grassington just a short distance up the hill from the Market Square on the left hand side. A sign above the corner window states that it was Crowther's Apothecary.
