Built by John Elam in the early 19th century in ‘cottage ornée’ style. It was used by the Bentinck family as a shooting lodge. The house is built of coursed sandstone rubble, part rendered and all painted white. It has a graduated stone slate roof. For many years it was used as a Youth Hostel, but it is now back in private ownership.

Location

From Dent Station travel about 1/2 mile south to junction with main Dentdale road. Turn left, the house is on right side of road after another 1 1/2 miles.
