Flasby rapier MYD3943

This bronze rapier or short sword was discovered somewhere on Flasby Fell near Gargrave over a hundred years ago. It is a Wandsworth Type rapier and dates to around the middle of the Bronze Age. Originally it would have had bone or wooden hand-grips. Such weapons are rare and must have been highly prestigious items.
