Grassington village pump MYD34957 (c) YDNPA, 2023

A large cast iron water pump casing dating to some time in the 19th century. It was originally known as ‘The Fountain’ and supplied water to the village until the 1890s when the Grassington Waterworks Company was formed. People continued to use it until the 1930s. It was moved from its original position and later converted into an ornamental fountain to commemorate the Millennium.
