High Hall in Appletreewick was built in the Tudor period by Sir William Craven, a former Lord Mayor of London who was apparently born in a cottage opposite. It is built of coursed ashlar masonry and is a large, two bay house with three storeys and a basement. The Great Hall has an 8-light stone mullion window that contains original 17th century diamond paned glass. Inside, the hall is floored with large diamond shaped stone flags. Above the hall lies a drawing room of the same size. All the way round this room is a large frieze of 16th or 17th century plasterwork.
