Holiday cabins MYD36626 (c) YDNPA, 2023

Following the First World War, people with increasing leisure time and a desire to enjoy the healthy air of the Dales began to build weekend holiday cabins on any scrap of ground they could buy or rent. Some adapted railway carriages, others built wooden huts. Several of these little holiday cabins can still be discovered hidden away around the park, most still treasured and carefully maintained such as this example in Littondale.
