Hudson House walled garden MYD36659 (c) YDNPA, 2023

The walled garden at the back of the Hudson House Community Centre in Reeth has survived the use of the building as a bank for many years. The garden would have provided its original Victorian owner with fresh fruit and vegetables all year round. There would also have been a greenhouse for forcing early fruit but this is long gone. A local community group has taken over maintenance of the area and is restoring it to be a community orchard with traditional Yorkshire apple varieties.

Location

Site lies behind Hudson House in the centre of Reeth on south west side of the Green. This community building houses the Reeth National Park Centre. Contact them on reeth@ytbic.co.uk for opening times.
