Description

Kettlewell mace-head MYD36671 © The Craven Museum, Skipton, 2004
A late Neolithic polished quartz mace-head found near Kettlewell. A prestigious object like this would once have been mounted on a wooden or bone haft. It is unlikely to have had any practical function. It was probably carried by someone as a symbol of power and status.
