Taitlands near Stainforth, is a small mansion house, which until 2007 housed a Youth Hostel. It was built in Greek revival style for Thomas Redmayne, a West Yorkshire mill owner with quarrying interests in Ribblesdale. Construction work began in 1831 and probably continued in phases until 1848. On Redmayne’s death, the house passed through the hands of various owners until 1942 when it became a Youth Hostel. The grounds include a large coach house with a dovecote, a servants’ cottage, a pig sty, bee boles and a walled kitchen garden.

Location
