Tan Hill Inn
Description

Tan Hill Inn MYD36595 (c) YDNPA, 2023
Famous for being the highest pub in Britain, the Tan Hill Inn stands on a number of important historic routes into the northern dales including those used by drovers and packhorse trains. It also lies at the heart of the Tan Hill coal field and once had miners cottages nearby, demolished in the early 20th century. The stone building as it stands today has its origins in the 17th century although it has been altered considerably over the years including extra accommodation built on in 1990.
